Haunted Hotels in Savannah

Kehoe House

Ghost stories and strange phenomena abound at the massive Kehoe House, which was built in 1892. From the hauntings perpetrated by twins that died while playing in a chimney in one of the rooms to the eerie occurrences in rooms 201 and 203, the Kehoe House has rightfully earned its haunted reputation. The staff has had several of their own incidents including hearing voices of children and doors unlocking and opening by themselves.

The Marshall House

Marshall House Haunted Hotel SavannahThe Marshall House opened in 1851, and has a history that’s very conducive to ghostly experiences. It’s been used as a hospital three times --- twice during Savannah’s 19th century yellow fever epidemics and during the Civil War by the Union Army. “Ghosts” have been reported in the hallways and in the foyer. The hotel has been featured several times on the Travel Channel’s haunted hotel programs and specials. The Ghost Packages at The Marshall House are always a favorite.

Eliza Thompson House ghost sightings

Eliza Thompson House

The Eliza Thompson House has its share of ghostly sightings, including Confederate soldiers in an upstairs window and a young girl wearing a white dress in the hallway.
This 1847 home is the perfect place to “capture the spirit” of haunted Savannah.

Olde Harbour Inn Haunted Hotel

Olde Harbour Inn

Olde Harbour Inn is home to “Hank,” the most-often sited ghost among the six inns in the Bed and Breakfasts of Savannah collection. Guests have reported smelling cigar smoke when no smokers were present, experiencing things moving around, coins dropping on the floor and more. Explore Savannah’s spookier side at Olde Harbour Inn.

East Bay Inn Ghost Sightings

East Bay Inn

Step back in time at this historic inn and indulge in a little eerie fun with East Bay Inn’s Scary Savannah package. East Bay Inn was built in 1852 just steps away from the dark waters of the Savannah River. Guests have often reported seeing the inn’s ghost, affectionately named "Charley" by the staff. In 2001, a guest captured Charley’s image in a photograph. Ask to see it at check-in!

Why does Savannah have such a “spooky” reputation?

Savannah is a unique destination. It embodies traditional Southern hospitality and charm, but also revels in its rough-and-tumble (and sometimes eerie) past. Savannah was a battleground during the American Revolution, was captured by Sherman during the Civil War, and has weathered hurricanes, fires and two devastating outbreaks of yellow fever. Established on the Savannah River, the city had an early population of colonists, slaves, voodooists, sailors, traders and pirates with unique social and religious beliefs. These elements combine make a fitting backdrop for ghost tales and unexplained phenomenon.
